The Teacher's Lesson Plan

Dear Educators-

Thank you for taking your valuable time to visit our website.  We want to welcome you to "Financial Lesson Plan 101".  Our goal for this lesson is to empower you with the knowledge that you will need to plan for your financial future.  We work with educators in school districts all over Texas and educate them about important issues concerning teacher retirement and how it won't be enough.   You need to know what your options are in order to help you make the best decisions for you regarding retirement planning, in addition to your TRS retirement funds, and keep you in the "know" and in "control of your financial future."

No doubt that you spend countless hours preparing for your students in the areas that you teach.   Being married to a former Special Education teacher with 20 years of service in Texas schools, brings back many memories.  For  twenty years, my wife Laura, spent hour after hour giving 100% + to her students so that they would be able to have a quality education that would lend to their success later on in life.   Her job was to empower them with the knowledge that they would need to make that happen!

Unfortunately for her and for us, after 15 years of hard work,  she found out that she should have done her own financial lesson plan years before.  She did not know about how TRS retirement income really worked in retirement years,  and that she should have been supplementing  her retirement all the while with a 403(b) or a 457(b) Qualified Financial Plan until 1994.   She was angry and frustrated that she had lost over 15 years of investment time.  In 1994 she started contributing to a 403(b).  Making up for lost time was not an option unfortunately, with regards to the amount of her monthly contributions, since we had kids approaching college and investment contributions were down the line in a long list of financial commitments.

Because of this, she and I decided to start "spreading the word" to all educators and support personnel about the critical need to supplement their TRS retirement that they will receive when they retire.   You see, when you look at the TRS retirement formula. that is used to figure the educators "Standard Annuity" and monthly take home income at retirement, there's not enough there for most people to live on and pay their monthly bills.  Bills continue for most folks after retirement.  At least that's the way it usually is!

We ran the averages numbers and found that the monthly income that most educators and support personnel receive in retirement depending on whether they are "grandfathered" or not,  ranges from $1,300 to $2,500 per month, take home, after taxes are taken out and health insurance coverage (which most retirees need) are deducted,  Years of credited service, the current state factor, and averages of either your 3 or 5 highest years of income (grandfathered or non-grandfathered) during your career are the key components for the TRS formula.  This is information that you need to know now, wherever you are in your career, beginning, middle or end.  Retiring and then having to go back to work just to pay your bills is not the way you want it to be.  Don't pass up this FREE consultation to learn how all of this works and put yourself in the driver's seat to a secure future and a good lesson plan for yourself!

I will be happy to meet with you for your FREE, NO-OBLIGATION CONSULTATION at your earliest convenience.  I can meet with you at your school (planning period or after school) or at your home, whichever is most comfortable for you.  If you're married and want your spouse there, I welcome that.
